Red Hollow
An abandoned mining settlement/tunnel system south of the Deadwood.
Description
- Once a thriving mining settlement before the Shattering of Stonehold
- Now consists only of tunnels beneath the earth
- Dangerous and forgotten
- Passable tunnels weave like veins beneath the Deadwood's southern edge
- Some paths surface within a day's march of the Hollow Spire's perimeter
History
Stonehold fell when the Song first began to fade. The tunnels have been abandoned ever since.
Book II
Oren directs Liora, Ephraim, and Tobias to use Red Hollow as a hidden path to approach the Hollow Spire undetected. The party enters the tunnels and battles corrupted creatures.
In the depths, they discover an ancient laboratory where experiments once twisted the Song. Liora's vision reveals desperate researchers trying to stabilize something that "wasn't stable."
The Hollowborn serpent creature returns and wakes the cocooned failed experiments. After a desperate battle, the party escapes the collapsing tunnel and emerges in the Deadwood, seeing the Hollow Spire on the horizon.
