Dimmingwood
A region of ancient forest between Greenthorn and the southern territories. Distinct from the Deepwood.
Description
The Dimmingwood is characterized by:
- Older, stranger trees that spiral and bend in unnatural ways
- Dense fog and mist that lingers
- Strange carvings on stones — half-eroded symbols no one can read
- Mushrooms and fungi that glow with bioluminescence
- A sense of being watched by the forest itself
- Listening Groves — places where the Song echoes louder
The forest feels "preserved" rather than abandoned — like it remembers things the tribes have forgotten.
Book II
Silas, Liora, Ephraim, and Tobias travel through the Dimmingwood on their way south to the Hollow Glade. They encounter a strange shadow creature that stalks and tests them rather than simply attacking.
