Dimmingwood

Dimmingwood

A region of ancient forest between Greenthorn and the southern territories. Distinct from the Deepwood.

Description

The Dimmingwood is characterized by:

  • Older, stranger trees that spiral and bend in unnatural ways
  • Dense fog and mist that lingers
  • Strange carvings on stones — half-eroded symbols no one can read
  • Mushrooms and fungi that glow with bioluminescence
  • A sense of being watched by the forest itself
  • Listening Groves — places where the Song echoes louder

The forest feels "preserved" rather than abandoned — like it remembers things the tribes have forgotten.

Book II

Silas, Liora, Ephraim, and Tobias travel through the Dimmingwood on their way south to the Hollow Glade. They encounter a strange shadow creature that stalks and tests them rather than simply attacking.
