Silas
The Heir of the First Song
Silas is a young Skwirl from Brackenhold who discovers he is the prophesied Heir of the First Song.
Appearance
- Gray fur (storm clouds caught between sunlight and shadow)
- Darker along spine, brighter near face
- Sharp black eyes
- Long, bushy tail
- Oak-colored tunic with hood
- First Oak bark pendant (found with him as an infant)
Background
Silas was found as an infant in the Deepwood by Yrenna, wrapped in moss with only the First Oak pendant. He grew up in Brackenhold believing Yrenna was his birth mother — she raised him as her own.
He has always felt different — able to sense the First Song since childhood, feeling the resonance in places like the sacred glade near Brackenhold.

Abilities
Ardenfire (Living Flame)
Silas possesses unique blue Ardenfire — different from the golden Ardenfire used by other practitioners. This "Living Flame" represents a deeper connection to the First Song.
- Color: Blue (sometimes gold at the edges)
- Harmonies: Can use multiple Harmonies (Rootnote, Blazenote, Shieldnote) naturally — unprecedented
- Living Flame: A deeper power that responds to intent, not forcing
- Flame Shield: Can create protective barriers of flame
- Healing: His flame can heal rather than destroy
Prophecy
The Remembrance verse:
"When root and crown are bound as one,
What once was broken comes undone.
The azure flame that rose from shade
Reveals the Heir by grave unmade."
Silas's blue flame is the "azure flame" — the sign of the Heir.
New Abilities (Book II)
- Resonance Sense — Can sense ALL resonance around him: stone, air, guards' heartbeats
- Invisibility — Can turn invisible by bending resonance around himself
- Compassionate Healing — Uses kindness as catalyst instead of force; healing restores rather than drains
