Malakar

Malakar

The primary antagonist of Book I. A Ratkyn warlord who serves Noctis.

Appearance

  • Tall, broad-shouldered Ratkyn
  • Dark fur with violet markings pulsing beneath
  • Single amber eye (the other lost in battle?)
  • Massive jagged sword veined with Noctimancy
  • Wears dark, tattered cloak

Background

Malakar is Noctis's primary general — the one who carries out his campaigns against the tribes.

His Past (Revealed in Book I)

Malakar was born in a village called Caldrith's Hollow. As a child, his village was destroyed by bandits while the First Song did nothing to save it.

This trauma led him to reject the Song and eventually become drawn to Noctis's philosophy — that the Song is a lie that abandons those who need it.

"It promised protection. Harmony. That the strong would rise to guard the weak. And where was it when my home burned?"

He knows Yrenna from before — she was at his village the night it was destroyed. This connection is revealed during the Battle of Vallenglen.
