The Golden Stag

The Golden Stag

Description

The Golden Stag is the creator deity of Sylvanholt — a luminous being of living gold who appeared when the world was young, gray, and silent.

He stands upon antlers that branch wide and high, reaching for something the world had forgotten. Where his hooves touch the ground, the stone softens as if remembering what it was meant to hold.

The Creation

When the Stag sang, the world came alive:

  • Stone softened and soil formed
  • Water gathered into rivers
  • Forests rose, mountains lifted, clouds gathered
  • The First Oak grew at the heart of the land

From the First Oak came the Golden Acorns — orbs of light that unfurled into the six tribes: Skwirls, Mycen, Bavar, Shryg, Veylin, and Ratkyn.

The Teaching

The Stag taught the Children to listen to the Song — not to command it, but to hear it as one hears breath or heartbeat. Only then could they shape it gently into Ardenfire.

He warned of balance, restraint, and the danger of listening only to oneself.

The Departure

When Noctis corrupted the Song and wounded the Great Root, the Stag knew the Children had to heal themselves — not be united by an outside hand.

He created the Burrowed Crown — meant for one who would listen as he had listened, walk through shadow without being claimed by it, and bear both weight of loss and call of hope.

Then he withdrew from Sylvanholt — not in defeat, but in trust that the promise would answer itself.

The Prophecy

The Stag left words passed from elder to elder:

"When root and crown are bound as one, what once was broken comes undone. The azure flame that rose from shade reveals the Heir by grave unmade."
