The First Oak
Description
The First Oak is the oldest living structure in Sylvanholt — a massive tree at the heart of the world, planted by the Golden Stag at the dawn of creation.
It is vast beyond measure:
- Threefold the height of any ordinary tree
- Manyfold the mass
- Branches unfurl wide enough to cast shadows across the valley floor
- Roots spread across all of Sylvanholt, forming a massive underground network
Its bark is amber and gold, veined with soft blue light that pulses gently — like a living heart. The glow hums not as sound, but as presence.
The Golden Acorns
The First Oak produces Golden Acorns — orbs of light cradling silhouettes within. When they fall, they unfurl not into seeds but into the six tribes: Skwirls, Mycen, Bavar, Shryg, Veylin, and Ratkyn.
Thus, all Children of the First Oak share a common origin.
Root Network
The Oak's roots spread across Sylvanholt, forming a massive underground network connecting ancient Sanctuaries and carrying the resonance of the First Song. These rootlines are how the Song flows across the land.
Significance
- The Oak is the source of all life in Sylvanholt
- It is where the Burrowed Crown was hidden
- Its roots were wounded during the Great Root Severing, weakening the Song across the world
Sacred Objects
Silas carries a pendant carved from preserved First Oak bark — the pendant he was found with as a child. It holds special significance and responds to his latent Ardenfire abilities.
Locations
